4Culture is a tax-exempt public development authority (PDA), with a fifteen member Board of Directors, who are nominated by the King County Executive and confirmed by the King County Council. A Public Development Authority is a public entity created by cities or counties to accomplish public purpose activities without assuming them into the regular functions of County government. The work of 4Culture is accomplished by over 150 individuals each year. 4Culture is governed by a fifteen member Board of Directors, who are nominated by the King County Executive and confirmed by the King County Council. Additionally over 20 citizen volunteers in the fields of arts, heritage, preservation and public art serve on 4Culture Advisory Committees that contribute to program and policy development. Every year, over 100 citizen panelists review applications to competitive funding programs and calls for artists. Through the integration of four program areas — arts, heritage, preservation and public art — 4Culture works to: identify the needs of local King County communities and create programs that meet these needs; champion individual expression and community engagement; create and support a distinctive built environment; and work with artists and cultural organizations to offer culturally relevant solutions for the region.

PALOUSE WINERY

George & Linda Kirkish are the heart of Palouse Winery. After running an airline, a contracting business, raising four children, and living life to the fullest on Vashon Island, George & Linda took their drive for excellence and art in a new direction. With expert guidance & regular classes at UC Davis’s oenology program, Palouse evolved further in its philosophy, along with its grape purchases. In early 2005 the winery expanded into the present day location on Vashon Island’s north end. Palouse produces 1,400 cases of hand crafted wine a year, each vintage more stunning than the last.

No corporation or government entity owns or influences VoV; we are 'owned' by our community.  Our mission: Voice of Vashon connects our diverse community through a virtual town square to inspire a shared island culture.

ACE HARDWARE

In October 1977 long time islanders Al and Laura Snyder opened Vashon Ace Hardware. The original store encompassed about 4,000 square feet of the space within the current building. Over the years additions and remodels have increased the size of the store to the current space of approximately 10,000 square feet. The Ace Hardware Service Center was purchased in 1996 and it adds another 4,000 square feet of Outdoor Power Equipment and Rental items. In October of 2001 Doug Snyder and John Yates purchased the business from AI and Laura.

ANDREW WILL WINERY

Andrew Will Winery is a family owned business that specializes in blends and single varietal bottling's of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. They produce around 5500 cases of wine annually. We make about 4500 cases of wine a year give or take so many hundred cases. In addition to the blends we make from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, we also make Sangiovese from fruit grown at Ciel du Cheval. The history of the Sangiovese is as full as the other wines we have made but for now it lies in the shadow of the other varieties. We used to make varietal bottlings but by 2003 we had taken a vow to make as fine a wine as we could through blending the most important varieties we grow in Washington.

AIRLIFT NORTHWEST

At Dragon’s Head Cider, we believe in producing high quality hard ciders with a traditional approach, which means you will never find us using apple juice concentrate, over sweetening our ciders, or adding other flavors to our ciders.
