BVS is a small private voice studio serving clients in Tacoma, Vashon Island, and online. Our clients are:

Gaye is a Suzuki violin teacher. The Suzuki approach is based on the philosophy that young children can learn to play an instrument just as they learn to speak their native language—through regular listening, developmentally appropriate instruction, and frequent opportunities to play alone and with others.

Gordy teaches private lessons and 2 group sessions weekly at his studio on Vashon. He focuses on Rhythm technique and repertoire in West African, Afro Cuban, Brazilian, Funk, Jazz and Rock music using Congas, Ashikos, Djembes, Bells, Shekeres, and the Dunun Drums. The sessions draw on his experience playing Yoruba, Malinke, and Cuban music with many great Masters on concerts and Recordings across his career. Gordy has students of all ages. All are welcome, the door is open!

Kim's teaching is tailored to the individual. All ages accepted. She includes movement and games to enhance the learning experience. Students are encouraged to choose songs they want to learn, and Kim incorporates relevant music theory into the lessons. Students will have the opportunity to learn performance skills at monthly, community open mics. Her goal is to create life-long music lovers!

She teaches a full private cello studio, alongside Holy Names Academy, and is faculty at Icicle Creek Summer Symphony. She is also a Suzuki teacher along with incorporating alternative styles! I teach Cajun fiddle tunes with the technics and tricks that make up the unique sound of the Cajun dance music, this full body driving music makes you want to dust off the old dance shoes and hit the floor, I also teach back-up guitar for Cajun fiddle. I also teach in the style of Americana Old Time tunes for square dances as well as tunes for Contra Dances and Folk Dances, I teach back-up guitar for these styles of music. I teach in a group setting or private lessons, all with opportunities to play for local dances. I have been teaching and playing dance music for 30 years and it brings me joy to share my music with others.

Todd earned a masters degree in percussion from the University of Washington in 1998. He currently teaches music courses at Highline College, maintains a roster of private students and continues to perform regularly. Zimberg founded Drum Camp in 1997 to meet the needs of his students in the summer, offering an intensive immersion into the world of percussion and a week to focus on the shared passion for music.
