The Harlem Gospel Travelers' latest album, Rhapsody, earned them a GRAMMY AWARD nomination for BEST ROOTS GOSPEL at this year's 67th GRAMMY AWARD, and the band made history as the first openly queer group to be nominated for a gospel Grammy!
The music of the Harlem Gospel Travelers draws deeply on the gospel quartet tradition of the ’50s and ’60s, of course. Still, there’s also a distinctly modern edge to their sound—an unmistakable reflection of the tumultuous years of pandemic anxiety, political chaos, and social unrest. Their songs carry a message of resilience and facing down doubt and despair with faith and perseverance. The performances are explosive and ecstatic, fueled by dazzling vocal arrangements punctuated with gritty bursts of guitar and crunchy rhythm breaks. Harlem Gospel Travelers are here to move you, to lift you up, to free you from your burdens, and to take you someplace higher. Because even when the world seems its darkest, and everything else gets stripped away, the music remains. It always does.
The Daily Express (UK) compares this talented trio to classic R&B and Soul legends, raving,
"Bands like Smokey Robinson & the Miracles and The Temptations come immediately to mind."
