Big Apples: The Story of Washington’s Iconic Fruit

Why did Washington become the apple capital of the world? Humanities Washington speaker Amanda L. Van Lanen, Professor of History at Lewis-Clark State College, will explore this question in Big Apples, a fascinating look at how Washington’s apples grew into big business. She’ll also discuss shifts in the American food industry and what they mean for the future. This free event is brought to you by Vashon Park District and King County Library System through the Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau.
