Art Historian Rebecca Albiani on: Owls in Art (Wise or Otherwise)
Vashon Center for the Arts
Sunday, January 12
2pm
FREE FOR YOUTH!
Vashon's favorite art historian returns to help us look closer and think deeper about the art we see. This time, Rebecca examines:
OWLS IN ART (wise or otherwise).
In antiquity, owls symbolize wisdom, while Goya’s owls represent darkness and nightmare, and Hieronymus Bosch’s owls defy categorization—these nocturnal raptors are multifarious in art.
NOTE: This lecture is the perfect companion to the "Birds Take Flight" exhibition in the VCA Gallery through January!
