Increasingly, we are caught in a shattering of the world as unprecedented events in both nature and culture tear at the heart of humanity and ravage the earth. The waves of radical change and upheaval in the outside world easily become overwhelming emotions inside us.

The sense of balance and wholeness so sorely missing in the outer world cannot be found through a social or political process, but must be found in the depths of the individual self and soul. Either we are following spirit and growing our souls or we can find ourselves shrinking from life.

In order to avoid overwhelm and find meaningful pathways forward, we need to tap the deep resources of our souls which can connect us to timeless roots of imagination and the endless energies of creation. We are not alone, but can be inspired and empowered as archetypes in the soul respond to times of crisis and upheaval.

As the “light hidden in darkness,” the soul is the source of forgiveness and true self-acceptance, it is also the origin of both beginner’s mind and ancient wisdom.
